Bob Said's KR2 - FOR SALE

Bob Said's KR2 - FOR SALE

The photos are below are of Bob Said's KR2, which he is reluctantly offering for sale, with first offer going to KRnet members. Bob was the editor of Plane and Pilot and several other aviation magazines, so this plane was not built by an idiot. He wrote one of the first articles about Ken Rand's KR1, back when it was tauted as a $450 airplane!

For Sale: KR-2 N64Bravo Sierra (s.n. 7795), my "Fringe Benefit." Why? Because the years have caught up with me (all 86 of them). The KR in the accompanying pictures I bought partially completed by a member of EAA chapter 800 in Grand Junction (his name was Jack McCaslin and he lived in Cedaredge CO). I have not yet advertised it anywhere, except verbally to members of my EAA Chapter 1373.

Engine: Great Plains VW 2180 liquid cooled, compression raised from 7:1 to 9:1, s.l TO rated 101 hp. Alternator, Dynatek dual electronic ignition. 11 1/2 gal. gravity main tank, 7 gal. aux tank w/electric transfer pump.Burns 4.5 gph. Diehl fixed gear, ICOM A24 radio. Always hangared. Old-style panel w/goodies. This a/c has under 150 hrs since first flight 9/16/08, all by me, and have been having fun with it ever since.. (I fly for fun, with no weather on my side of the Mississippi, CAVU, and zephyrs only) It has been paced by a well-calibrated Wittman Tailwind at 147 mph TAS at 7500 msl..The plane needs minor tweaking for some instrument calibration and improved cooling airflow, but nothing serious. What IS serious is that any KR taildragger is a handful to handle on takeoff and landing, so I won't sell it to a beginner. Above mid-range offers welcome.
