Galen Zortman's KR2

Galon Zortman's KR2

December, 2013

This is Galen Zortman's KR2 project, for sale for $5500. I'm from Pawnee Rock, Kansas, and the plane is at Larned airport, Kansas.

My plane, when finished I would not been afraid to fly. I've had 15 knee surgeries since 1991, the last one a year ago, with lots of screws, wires, and cadaver parts. With that being said, the knee brace that is now a permanent fixture makes it virtually or nearly impossible for me to get into any and fly any side by side underwing aircraft, without modifications to it(my KR2 I would have to eliminate the flaps, install a belly board, and carbon fiber a step on the side of the plane, because I'm limited on the angle and height I can raise and bend my knee. That's why I have my Volkscraft, which is flown from the back seat.) My Volkscraft is a 2/3 scale J3 cub, tandem, of which I can take the front seat out of and get into.

The plane has a Hapi 1835 Vw, (which if nobody wants, I can put on my Volkscraft), with prop, spinner, diehl, electric start system. The motor does have a Posa Carb. The ignition is dual plug system, with a magneto, but the secondary I'll check on, one of the Hapi has distributor, the other has a Harley ignition. This motor is zero time, my other Hapi is 40hrs. I do have the exhaust for the plane. The wings will need to be lightly sanded, and primered and painted. The stub wings have the flaps, with the handle on the left side of the plane. The plane will need wired, avionics, front deck installed, nose installed, of which I have all the fiberglass pieces, the tail cone needs installed. The KR canopy frame and plexiglass is there needs to be glassed and installed. The plane has hydraulic brakes, of which they need installed in the inside, I have them.

The plane was originally a single stick, which I converted to dual stick. The interior needs finished. I wasn't going to install the seats, then sell it to a person whom would have to redo them to fit them. The cables need to be shortened to accommodate the dual sticks. The plane does have dual pedals. The turtle deck is done. I have the fiberglass dash and tank holder. I have two main wheel pants and hardware for the plane. The plane has trim on the left elevator, which is cabled in. I don't have to sell the plane, I just need the money to fix my Volkscraft's wings and get her re-inspected, and airworthinessed. I have $8500'in the plane, but I've seen similar ones sell for $6000. The pictures that I'll send you are rather old, but I'd send you more today while I'm at the hangar if you want. It'll need cables, ignition, battery, misc. parts. If you need more info or confused about anything, please give me a call anytime @ 785-342-9896

The below pic is the one I'm working on now to finish.
